Queensland Pool Safety Regulations

As of November 30, 2015, all pool owners were required to comply with updated pool safety laws. If you’re planning to sell or lease your property, a certificate of compliance is now mandatory.

The leading cause of death for children aged 1-5 years in Queensland remains to be drowning. One of the most effective measures to prevent these tragedies is ensuring proper pool fencing. Bluestone Pool Fencing works closely with the Pool Safety Compliance team to ensure your pool is safe and meets Queensland’s strictest standards for certification.

Queensland Legislation

The new pool safety legislation introduced several important changes. Most notably, it replaced the previous 11 different safety standards with a single, unified standard applicable to all pools. The regulations now extend to include indoor pools, as well as pools associated with hotels, motels, caretaker residences, caravan parks, backpacker accommodations, hostels, mobile home parks, and homestays.

Another key change is the phasing out of child-resistant doors as acceptable pool barriers for existing pools. This includes self-closing and self-latching doors, which were previously deemed sufficient. Additionally, it is now mandatory to display the latest prescribed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) sign near each pool. We will advise you on this, including placement.
